Thus far this year, 118,000 Indian students have obtained UK visas

The United Kingdom Immigration Statistics has released updated data showing that over 118,000 Indian students were granted a student visa in the UK in the year ending June 2022. This represents an increase of 89% over the results from the same period the previous year.

Furthermore, according to recent data, India has surpassed China as the most prominent nationality granted sponsored study visas in the UK, even though India continues to rank well among Indian tourists’ preferred travel destinations.

Indian citizens are the source of 28% of visitor visas issued, according to data from the UK Immigration Statistics.

Simultaneously, more than 258,000 Indian nationals were granted visas in the year that concluded in June 2022, a total of 630 percent more than in the year prior, when many nations continued to impose stringent COVID-19 restrictions in an effort to stop the virus’s spread.

According to the same source, around 103,000 work visas were granted to Indian nationals in the year that ended in June 2022, a total rise of 148% over the same period the previous year.

The British High Commissioner to India, Alex Ellis, stressed that India is once again at the forefront of the matter.

“I’m delighted that Indian nationals were issued the largest number of UK study, work and visitor visas in the year ending June 2022. More strength to the unique living bridge that connects our people. As this shows, we’re experiencing an unprecedented demand for visas. I encourage students starting courses soon to apply as early as possible,” Ellis pointed out in this regard.

Many international students are drawn to the UK by student visas. One of the main reasons international students come to study in Amritsar is because sponsored student visas arrive in as little as three to four weeks, according to Chitresh Dhawan, proprietor of Dhawan Educational Consultancy in Amritsar.

“UK visa processing is quite transparent. Students require overall six bands in four modules — speaking, writing, listening and reading — and some universities are even sponsoring students based on their marks in English subject and tests conducted by such Universities,”  Dhawan pointed out.

Dhawan further emphasized that the Brexit era has contributed to a rise in applications for student visas, noting that although people are trying to enter other European nations, the number of applications for student visas to the UK has increased significantly.
